3. Committee accepts nearly 500 new April 3rd Incident claims
26 victims, 472 relatives of victims

The Jeju April 3rd Incident Working Committee has reviewed hundreds of new claims from people who say they, or their relatives, were victims of the incident.

The committee accepted the claims of 26 people as direct victims and 472 people as relatives of victims.

The 26 victims include 14 people who have already died, five who remain listed as missing, four who were disabled through the incident, and three who were convicted of various offenses during the incident.

Committee members shelved deliberations on the cases of another four potential victims and 80 relatives, saying they needed to assess those claims in more detail.

The working committee has accepted about 72-hundred claims so far. It has passed them on to the April 3rd Incident Central Committee for final decisions.

제주 4·3 실무위원회가 희생자와 유족 추가신고를 심사해 희생자 26명과 유족 472명을 심의 의결했습니다.

이번에 의결된 희생자 26명은 사망 14명과 행방불명 5명, 후유장애 4명, 수형인 3명입니다.

다만 이번 심사에서 희생자 4명과 유족 80명은 추가 사실조사 확인이 필요해 보류됐습니다.

제주 4·3 실무위원회는 지금까지 7천 200여명을 의결해 중앙위원회에 최종 심의결정을 요청해 놓고 있습니다.
