4. Jeju kiwis prove popular in SE Asia, Hong Kong
160 tons of 2018 crop exported

Jeju kiwi is getting more popular in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

According to Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services, Jeju exported about 160 tons of kiwis that were grown in 2018. That’s about twice the total of the year before.

Of particular note--the one ton of Korean “sweet gold” kiwis that were exported on a trial basis last year got such a good response that the shipping amount has been upped to 50 tons.

Kiwis grown in 2018 were first exported to Hong Kong last October. This year’s goal is to ship 300 tons of the fruit by this May.

제주산 키위가 홍콩 등 동남아에서 인기를 끌고 있습니다.

제주도농업기술원은 2018년산 제주키위를 지난해보다 2배 증가한 160여 톤을 수출했다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 국산 품종으로 지난해 1톤을 시범 수출한 '스위트골드'는 반응이 좋아 50톤으로 수출량이 늘었습니다.

2018년산 키위는 지난해 10월 홍콩 수출을 시작으로 오는 5월까지 300톤 수출을 목표로 하고 있습니다.
