3. Zero Pay system to be trialled in Jeju
Lower transaction fees for small businesses

A new system will be trialled in Jeju that aims to reduce the transaction fees small businesses must pay credit card companies.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has designated more districts with large floating populations and a large number of small businesses to test the Zero Pay system. Jeju’s Jungang Shopping Mall and Jungang-ro Shopping District are included on the list.

Customers use their smartphones to make purchases through Zero Pay, and merchants pay as little as 0 percent in transaction fees on those sales. The system will expand to include online and public transportation payments by the end of June.

지하상가·중앙로에 '제로페이' 시범 도입

소상공인들의 카드결제 수수료 부담을 낮춘 '제로페이'가 제주에도 시범 도입됩니다.

중소벤처기업부가 유동인구가 많고 소상공인 점포가 밀집한 핵심 상권을 제로페이 시범 상가로 추가 지정한 가운데 제주에서는 중앙지하 상점가와 중앙로 상점가 2군데가 포함됐습니다.

제로페이는 스마트폰 간편 결제를 통해 결제 수수료를 0%까지 낮춘 것으로 상반기 중에 온라인 결제와 교통 결제 기능도 추가될 예정입니다.
