4. ‘No feasibility study needed for Dodu sewage treatment plant modernization’
Seoul’s decision shaves 6 months off project timetable

Seoul has decided not to require a feasibility study for the modernization of the (도두) Dodu sewage treatment plant.

The national government opted to exempt 23 projects nationwide from the need to perform feasibility studies. The estimated price tag for those projects is 24.1 trillion won.

After the announcement, Governor Won Hee-ryong said at a briefing that Seoul’s decision shaves about six months of the project timetable.

The exemption also means the project is automatically included in the 5-year-plan for balanced national development, which makes it easier to secure national funding for the work.

The 388-billion-won project will boost the daily capacity of the sewage treatment plant from 130,000 tons to 220,000 tons. The province also wants to relocate the entire facility underground and transform the area into a park. The work is slated for completion in 2025.

정부는 29일 제주시 도두 공공하수처리시설 현대화사업을 포함해 전국적으로
23개 사업, 24조 1천억원 규모의 예비 타당성 조사 면제 사업을 확정해 발표했습니다.

정부 발표에 즈음해 원희룡 지사는 브리핑을 통해 이번 예비타당성 조사 면제로
사업기간이 6개월 정도 앞당겨지는 효과가 있을 것으로 기대했습니다.

특히 예비타당성 조사 면제로 인해 국가균형발전계획 5개년 사업에 자동 포함된 만큼 국비 확보에 탄력을 받을 것으로 예상했습니다.

제주시 도두 공공하수처리시설 현대화사업은 오는 2025년까지 사업비 3천 880억원을 투입해 하루 하수처리량을 기존 13만톤에서 22만톤으로 늘리고 기존 처리시설의 완전 지하화와 지상의 공원화를 추진하게 됩니다.
