2. Camellia planting campaign in April 3rd Peace Park
Flowers symbolize April 3rd Incident victims

The provincial government and the Jeju April 3rd Peace Foundation have launched a campaign to plant camellias in the April 3rd Peace Park.

The “One Camellia, One Step Toward Peace” campaign runs from Friday through the end of March.

For those two months, the organizations are accepting donations of native Jeju camellias that are at least ten years old.

The foundation will cover all relocation costs for the trees.

The camellia was chosen as a symbol of the April 3rd Incident because falling camellia flowers represent those who lost their lives in the incident.

4·3평화공원 내 동백나무 심기 캠페인 진행

제주도와 제주4.3평화재단이 4.3평화공원 내 동백나무 심기 캠페인 '동백 한 그루, 평화 한걸음'을 진행합니다.

이에 따라 캠페인이 진행되는 2월 1일부터 3월까지 수령이 10년 이상 되는 제주 토종 동백나무를 기증받습니다.

나무 이전에 따른 식재비용은 4.3평화재단이 부담합니다.

동백은 꽃이 통째로 떨어지는 모습이 힘없이 스러져 간 4.3 영혼을 닮았다는 의미에서 제주 4.3의 상징으로 여겨지고 있습니다.
