1. Municipal police to handle calls to 112 hotline
Part of gradual shift of responsibilities from provincial police

The municipal police force will be getting more officers, because it, rather than the provincial police, will soon be dispatched when someone calls the 112 emergency hotline.

The National Police Agency released a three-phase plan to expand the municipal police force.

137 national officers assigned to the provincial police will be transferred to the municipal force. It will then have 260 officers to handle 12 areas of responsibility, which include 1-1-2 call responses as well as work related to general safety, women’s and youth issues, and traffic.

National police will have 42 areas of responsibility, including crime, traffic accidents, sexual violence, domestic violence, and child abuse.

Even though the municipal police will be responsible for responding to 1-1-2 calls, national police officers will accompany them and work side-by-side with them in the 1-1-2 response center.

112신고 출동 업무가 자치경찰로 넘어가고 인원도 대폭 확대됩니다.

경찰청은 이같은 내용을 담은 제주자치경찰 확대운영 3단계 방안을 확정해 발표했습니다.

이에 따라 제주지방경찰청 소속 국가경찰 137명이 자치경찰로 추가 파견돼 모두 260명이 자치경찰에서 생활안전·여성청소년·교통·112출동 업무를 담당하게 됩니다.

국가경찰은 범죄, 교통사고, 성폭력·가정폭력·아동학대등 42종을, 자치경찰은 112 출동을 비롯한, 교통 불편 등 12종을 각각 담당합니다.

자치경찰 소관 사무라도 긴급신고는 국가경찰이 함께 출동하며 112상황실에는 국가경찰과 자치경찰이 합동 근무하면서 현장 정보를 공유하게 됩니다.
