2. Dongbok-ri landfill to begin accepting waste February 15
Facility will be complete in March

The Environmental Resources Recycling Center in (동복리) Dongbok-ri, (구좌읍) Gujwa-eup will begin operations February 15th.

As the island’s landfills approach full capacity, zones 1 and 6 at the Dongbok landfill are now partially complete and will begin accepting general waste and fly ash on the 15th.

The Dongbok-ri Village Association, which had organized group opposition to the facility to suspend construction, has said that it will now work to get the center up and running.

The landfill has a capacity of 2.4 million tons of waste. Construction is 90 percent finished, and it is scheduled for full completion in March.

동복리 매립장, 2월 15일부터 쓰레기 반입

구좌읍 동복리 환경자원순환센터가 2월 15일부터 가동을 시작해 쓰레기를 반입합니다.

제주도는 도내 매립장 시설이 만적에 다다른 가운데 동복 매립장 시설 가운데
1구역과 6구역이 부분 준공됨에 따라 2월 15일부터 일반 폐기물과 비산재를 반입하기로 했습니다.

단체 행동으로 공사 중단을 불러왔던 동복리 마을회도 환경자원순환센터가 잘 조성될 수 있도록 돕겠다는 입장을 밝혔습니다.

동복리 환경자원순환센터 매립장은 240만 톤을 매립할 수 있는 규모로 오는 3월 말 준공을 앞두고 현재 공정율은 90%를 보이고 있습니다.
