2. ‘Greenland International should be a public hospital’
Protestors rally Thursday outside Provincial Office

A local organization that is against for-profit hospitals and the privatization of medical care in Jeju held a rally in front of the Provincial Office Thursday demanding that the decision to grant Greenland International Hospital a business license be revoked.

Organization representatives wrote in their resolution on the matter that Governor Won Hee-ryong ignored the will of the people, which was made clear through the work of the public opinion committee, and cleared the way for for-profit hospitals based on his “arbitrary decision.”

Finally, the organization says the governor must get to the bottom of all suspicions regarding the business license for the hospital and that Greenland International must be converted into a public hospital.

제주영리병원 철회와 의료민영화 저지 범국민운동본부는 21일 제주도청 앞에서 집회를 열고 영리병원 개원 허가를 철회하라고 촉구했습니다.

운동본부는 결의문을 통해 원희룡 지사는 도민의 반대의견과 공론조사위원회 권고를 무시한 채 독단적인 결정으로 영리병원의 길을 열어줬다고 주장했습니다.

그러면서 원 지사는 영리병원 허가와 관련한 모든 의혹과 부실의 진상을 밝히고,
녹지병원은 비영리 공공병원으로 전환해야 한다고 밝혔습니다.
