6. Meeting on oversupply of accommodations
Local officials to meet with industry representatives

The provincial government has announced plans to respond to a glut of accommodations on the island.

Local officials will hold a meeting with representatives from tourist hotels, general hotels, rural B&Bs, and other accommodations to discuss sustainable improvement measures in the sector.

They will also work with Jeju Municipal Police to crack down on illegal accommodations.

Compared to the year before, the number of guestrooms on the island jumped by 4,000 in 2018 to 71,000.

제주특별자치도가 숙박시설 과잉공급에 따른 대응 방안을 마련합니다.

이를 위해 행정과 관광호텔, 일반호텔, 농어촌민박 종사자와 관계 전문가 등이 참여하는 민관 대책회의를 구성해 지속가능한 발전방안을 논의합니다.

또 자치경찰과 함께 불법 숙박업 시설에 대한 감시와 단속을 강화합니다.

제주도내 숙박업소 객실수는 지난해 기준 7만 1천여개로 1년만에 4천실 이상 늘었습니다.
