President has final say

The Ministry of Justice has finalized the list of people being considered for special pardons as part of March First Independence Movement Day commemorations, and the list includes opponents to the Gangjeong naval base.

The ministry’s Special Pardon Review Committee finished deliberations with a list of some 4,000 candidates.

The committee says it cannot reveal their names.

The president has the final decision on the pardons, which will be made after a Tuesday cabinet meeting.

3.1절 특사 대상 명단에 강정마을도 포함

법무부가 3.1절 특별 사면 명단을 확정한 가운데 강정 해군기지 반대 집회 관련자들도 포함됐습니다.

법무부 사면심사위원회는 3.1절 특사 명단 심의를 모두 마치고 4천여 명의 대상자 명단을 확정했다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 이 가운데 제주 해군기지 반대 집회 사범도 이름을 올렸지만 구체적인 대상자는 밝힐 수 없다고 전했습니다.

이번 3.1절 특사 명단은 26일 국무회의를 거쳐 대통령이 재가하면 최종 사면이 이뤄지게 됩니다.
