4. Reforestation plans underway
5 million trees to be planted by 2023

The provincial government will plant five million trees by the year 2023.

This is the first year of the reforestation project. The province has earmarked 8 billion won to plant 1 million trees by the end of December. Authorities will replace the trees that fell victim to pine wilt on 170 hectares of local land.

The island’s two cities are also working in conjunction with local organizations to provide 26,000 free seedlings, as part of a public campaign.

재선충 피해지 조림 복원…5백만 그루 식재

제주특별자치도가 조림 복원을 위해 오는 2023년까지 나무 5백만 그루를 심습니다.

첫해인 올해는 사업비 80억 원을 들여 재선충병 피해지 170헥타르에 나무 100만 그루를 심을 계획입니다.

제주도는 행정시와 자생단체 묘목 2만 6천여 그루를 무료로 나눠줘 나무심기를 범도민 운동으로 확산할 방침입니다.
