Council adopts resolution demanding all planning for facility be suspended

The provincial council has adopted a resolution calling for the total suspension of all basic planning for the island’s second airport.

During the council’s second regular session on Wednesday, 23 of the 39 members present voted in favor of the resolution demanding that the conflicts regarding the second airport be resolved.

Just before the vote, some lawmakers demanded that the resolution be discussed again. They argued that the Democratic Party and the land ministry had already agreed to reactivate the review committee on the issue. That argument led to a 30-minute suspension of the session.

도의회, 제2공항 갈등해결 촉구 결의안 채택

제주도의회가 제주 제2공항 기본계획 수립절차의 전면 중단을 촉구하는 대정부 결의안을 채택했습니다.

제주도의회는 27일 임시회 2차 본회의를 열고 제2공항에 대한 갈등 해결을 촉구하는 결의안을 가결했습니다.

결의안은 재석의원 39명 가운데 23명이 찬성했습니다.

한편 본회의 표결 직전 일부 의원들이 민주당과 국토부가 당정협의를 통해 검토위 재가동을 합의한 점을 들며 결의안의 재논의를 요구하며 논쟁이 벌어져 본회의가 30분 가량 정회되기도 했습니다.
