Working-level committee reviews claims for April 3rd Incident victim status
28 victims and 1,608 relatives receive status
The April 3rd Incident Working-Level Committee has made the 8th assessment of claims submitted by people who say there were victims of the incident and people who say they are a relative of a victim. The committee has acknowledged 28 victims and 1,608 relatives.
The 28 victims include 21 deaths, 3 missing people, 3 disabled people and 1 convicted person. Of the three disabled people, two were disabled due to torture and one has suffered mental illness.
Two victims and 41 relatives have not been acknowledged, as they were not considered to be related to the incident.
An estimated 8,800 people have been recognized as a victim or a victim’s relative by the committee so far.

희생자 28명과
유족 1천 608명을 의결했습니다.
이번에 인정된 희생자 28명은
사망자 21명과 행방불명자 3명, 후유장애인 3명, 수형자 1명으로
후유장애인의 경우
고문 피해 2명과 정신질환 1명입니다.
하지만 심사대상에 오른 희생자 2명과 유족 41명은
4·3과 관련이 없는 것으로 판단돼 불인정 의결됐습니다.
이에 따라 지금까지 실무위원회를 통해 인정받은
추가 희생자와 유족은 8천 800 여명에 이르고 있습니다.
