3. Province plans to make 2nd airport improve standard of living
Decision is heavily criticized by residents and activist groups

The provincial government will formulate a proposal on how to improve the standard of living for residents by establishing the second airport. The proposal will be completed within the first half of next year, with a budget of 600 million won.

Local officials have disclosed the task instructions, and it includes a plan for improved living conditions of residents, which includes 14 villages in Seongsan-eup, as well as plans to boost businesses and enhance transport infrastructure. The province will carry out the plan in two phases from 2021 to 2030.

Representatives of two groups opposing the airport have said in their comments on Thursday that the province should revoke its decision regarding the plan because an official legal ruling regarding the airport has yet to be made.

한편 제2공항 성산읍 반대대책위원회와 범도민행동은
7일 논평을 내고 제2공항에 대해 법적으로 결정된 행정행위가 아무 것도 없는 상황에 주변지역 발전계획 수립 용역을 발주한 것은 이치에 맞지 않는 만큼 용역을 철회 해야 한다고 주장했습니다.
