1. Bijarim Forest Road expansion to resume after 7 month suspension
Cedar grove will be preserved, used as walking trail

The Bijarim Forest Road expansion project was suspended seven months ago due to controversies over environmental damage, but plans have been made to resume the project.

The cedar grove will be preserved and redesigned as a walking trail for the public. It will serve as a median strip for a two-lane road that will be built on the surrounding farmland.

The expansion work is slated to begin on Wednesday along the 2.9 kilometer stretch of road between Daecheon (대천) Intersection and Songdang (송당).

It is scheduled to be completed by June 2021 with a budget of 15 billion won.

제주특별자치도는 20일부터
대천 교차로에서 송당을 잇는
2.9KM 구간에 대한 확장공사를 3개 구간으로 나눠 진행합니다.

특히 기존 삼나무 수림을 그대로 유지하면서
목장부지를 활용해 2차로를 신설하며
중앙분리대 역할을 하게 될 기준도로의 삼나무 수림은
도민과 관광객이
자유롭게 다닐 수 있도록 야자수 매트 숲길로 조성됩니다.

이번 공사는 오는 2021년 6월까지 사업비 150억원을 투입해 진행됩니다.
