3. Province grants more official status of 4.3 victim and bereaved family
Newly enlisted include 4 survivors, 130 victims, 4K+ relatives

The provincial government has acknowledged an additional number of approximately 5,000 people as victims and bereaved family of the April 3rd Incident.

The Jeju April 3rd Incident Central Committee confirmed 5,081 out of 21,000 claims for victim or relative status on Tuesday.
Those newly enlisted include 4 survivors, 130 victims and 4,951 relatives.

The province will give notice to confirmed applicants and enshrine their memorial tablets at the April 3rd Peace Park before the 71st commemoration ceremony.

The committee has reviewed 41% of the 21,000 claims submitted last year and forecasts to complete the review by the end of the year.

제주 4·3 희생자와 유족 5천여 명이
정부로부터 추가 인정을 받았습니다.

제주 4·3중앙위원회는 26일 서면 심사를 통해
지난해 새로 신고한 2만1천여 명 가운데
5천81명을 희생자와 유족으로 최종 의결했습니다.

이번에 추가된 명단에는
생존 수형인 4명을 포함한 희생자 130명과
유족 4천951명이 포함됐습니다.

제주도는 희생자와 유족들에게 이러한 내용을 알리고
71주년 추념식 전까지 4·3평화공원 내 봉안실에
위패를 안치할 예정입니다.

한편 지난해 접수된 2만 1천여 명 가운데
현재까지 심의가 이뤄진 건 41%로,
연말까지 심의가 마무리될 전망입니다.
