Won claims actual profit is ￦7.4M

Governor Won Hee-ryong has reported personal assets of 4.24 billion won this year. The number has more than doubled since last year.

Records showed that bank deposits made up the bulk of the property gain at an increase of 2.4 billion won from last year. It was also reported that real estate owned by the governor’s wife and mother rose in value, increasing his families net worth by 93 million won.

Governor Won said that the majority of the reported funds stem from a 2014 lawsuit he won while a lawyer representing clients in a personal information leak by KB Card. Once those funds are paid out to his clients, he claimed the actual amount of his personal income would be closer to 7.4 million won.

Other high ranking officials also reported their assets including the superintendent of education, Lee Seok-mun(이석문), and the President of the Jeju Provincial Council, Kim Tae-seok(김태석), who reported 286 million and 597 million won, respectively.

항목별로는 예금이 전년보다 24억 7천만원이 늘었고
모친과 아내 명의 부동산도 공시지가 상승으로
9천 3백만 원 증가했습니다.

원 지사는
예금 증가액 대부분은
국민카드 개인정보 유출사건 손해배상 소송 승소에
따라 소송인단에게 지급할 위자료라며
실제 재산 증가액은 740만 원 정도라고 밝혔습니다.

이석문 교육감과 김태석 제주도의회 의장은
각각 2억 8천 6백만 원과
5억 9천 7백만 원을 신고했습니다.
