4. 4.3 Incident human rights symposium to be held at UN HQ
Presenters include Prof. Bruce Cumings, Dr. John Merrill

The Jeju April 3rd Peace Foundation is partnering with the representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations to hold a human rights symposium on the April 3rd Incident.

The symposium will take place on June 20th at the UN Headquarters in New York City.

Peter Kang U-il, the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jeju, will give a keynote speech at the symposium entitled, “The April 3rd Incident: Human Rights, Responsibility and Reconciliation”.

Presenters of the symposium also include Professor Bruce Cumings, a chair professor at the University of Chicago and the 2017 recipient of the April 3rd Peace Prize, as well as Dr. John Merrill, the former chief of the Northeast Asia Division of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research.
