1. Total resolution of April 3rd Incident ‘key’ to national unity
President Moon states determination to resolve remaining issues

President Moon Jae-in said on Wednesday that the need for a complete resolution to the April 3rd Incident is the way “to overcome ideological difference and to move toward national unity.”

President Moon posted on social media that further efforts will be made to get to the bottom of the incident and to heal the wounds of islanders by establishing a healing center and speeding up compensation for the victims.

He added that the incident continues to make him feel “ashamed to stand under the warmth of the spring sunlight.” President Moon further expressed his deep respect toward islanders.

He apologized for the slow progress to date and promised to work on this issue during his presidency.

진상을 완전히 규명하고
배·보상 문제와 트라우마 치유센터 설립 등
제주도민들의 아픈 상처를 치유하기 위한 일에
더욱 힘을 기울이겠다고 말했습니다.

이어 제주4.3은 여전히 봄 햇살 아래 서 있기에 부끄럽게 한다며
진혼을 넘어 평화로 나아가는 도민의 강인함에
깊은 존경의 마음을 보탠다고 적었습니다.

그러면서 문 대통령은
더딘 발걸음에 마음이 무겁다며
대통령으로서 끝까지 챙기겠다는 약속도 덧붙였습니다.
