2. Ministry of Defense expresses sympathy to 4.3 victims for the first time
The vice minister ‘respects’ April 3rd Special Law

The Ministry of National Defense expressed sorrow toward the Jeju April 3rd Incident for the first time in 71 years.

The Vice Minister of the Ministry of National Defense Seo Ju-seok visited Gwanghwamun Plaza on Wednesday. He stated his respect toward the intentions of the April 3rd Special Law and expressed deep remorse and condolence to the victims.

This is very different from the previous stance of the ministry since it had never apologized or expressed its sentiments toward the April 3rd Incident.

국방부는 그동안 제주 4.3에 대해
군.경이
무장봉기를 진압한 사건이라는 입장을 취하며
별다른 사과나
유감 표명은 없었습니다.
