5. Province to investigate neglected vacant dwellings
Government aims to utilize the properties for public housing, community spaces

The Jeju provincial government announced follow up measures to solve the problem of neglected vacant houses, as previously covered by the KCTV News investigative program Camera Focus.

Jeju signed a business agreement with the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation to investigate the current condition of the island’s unoccupied houses through October.

The research will be based on data provided by the Korea Electric Power Corporation and the provincial office of water works. Investigations will be performed on approximately 3,000 houses that have shown no electricity or water use for a year.

The province will establish guidelines based on this research to solve the issue. Unoccupied dwellings will later be used for the public rental housing and community spaces.

제주도는
4일 한국국토정보공사와 업무협약을 체결하고
도내 전역의 빈집에 대해
오는 10월까지 실태조사한다고 밝혔습니다.

실태조사는
한국전력과 상하수도본부 데이터를 바탕으로
지난 1년 동안 전기나 상수도 등
에너지 사용량이 없는
도내 3천여 호를 대상으로 진행됩니다.

제주도는 이번 실태조사 결과를 토대로
빈집 정비계획을 수립하기 위한 가이드라인을 마련하고
임대주택 공급과 커뮤니티 공간 등으로 활용할 계획입니다.
