3. Agreement to promote IB curriculum in Korea postponed
Daegu Education Office expresses ‘second thoughts’

The agreement among the Jeju and Daegu Education Office and the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the IB curriculum in Korean has been postponed.

The agreement ceremony was to be held on April 17th, but the Daegu Education Office pulled out the day before, after an internal review concluding “insufficient grounds.”

The superintendent of the Jeju Provincial Office of Education Lee Seok-mun and superintendent of Daegu metropolitan Office of Education Kang Eun-hee met with the Regional Director for Asia-Pacific of IB on Wednesday to discuss current progress and future agenda.

제주도교육청은
당초 17일 대구시교육청과 함께
스위스 비영리교유재단인 IBO와
IB 한국어화 추진 협약식을 체결할 예정이었으나
대구시교육청에서
돌연 불참 의사를 통보하면서 이같이 결정됐습니다.

대구시교육청은 자체 내부 검토 결과
협약식 체결을 위한
근거가 부족하다며 이같이 결정한 것으로 알려지고 있습니다.

17일 오전
IBO 아시아태평양 본부장을 만나
진행상황을 공유하고 향후 일정을 논의할 예정입니다.
