1. New Airport Promotion Committee ‘infuriated’
Uproar as Provincial Council speaker requests public survey

The Seongsan New Airport Promotion Committee criticized Provincial Council Speaker Kim Tae-seok for requesting that Governor Won Hee-ryong conduct a public survey on building the new airport in Jeju Island.

The committee said that many residents of Seongsan-eup support constructing the island’s second airport in the area. Committee members added that they are “infuriated” by Kim’s request as it is a political statement aimed at grounding the construction of the new airport.

The committee stressed its determination to strongly oppose anyone using the second airport for political interest.
