4. Island’s fish sales fall by a third
Local fish catch drops by 30%

Fish consignment sales from boats that work the waters around Jeju Island have dropped sharply.

Officials say 1,470 tons of fish were sold on consignment through the six (수협)Suhyup branches in the island. That’s a 33 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. Gross sales also declined 26 percent to 15 billion won.

The local government said the 30 percent decrease in hairtail and yellow corvina catches is the main reason for poor sales.

지난달 도내 6개 수협 위판량은
1천 470톤으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 33% 감소했습니다.

위판액도 지난해 보다 26% 줄어든
150억 원으로 저조했습니다.

제주도는
한림과 서귀포시 해상에서
갈치와 참조기 어획이 30% 이상 줄면서
위판실적도 부진했다고 설명했습니다.
