5. Local child abuse occurs mostly at home
160 incidents reported over the past three years

The local police found that more than half of local child abuse happen at home.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, 74 cases of child abuse were sent to the local prosecutor’s office in 2016, 99 in 2017 and 96 in 2018. There have been 28 cases remitted to the office this year through March.

Authorities reported that child abuse mostly took place at home with 160 cases, which is nearly 60 percent of all reported cases over the past three years. The numbers were followed by 18 cases occurred in schools.

제주지방경찰청에 따르면
아동학대 혐의로 검찰에 송치된 사건은
2016년 74건,
2017년 99건, 지난해 96건에 이어
올해도 3월까지 28건에 이르고 있습니다.

특히 지난 3년간 검찰에 송치된 아동학대 사건의 59.8%인 160여건이
가정 내에서 발생해 가장 많았고
이어 학교가 18건으로 뒤를 잇고 있습니다.
