3. More than 10 aircraft bird strikes occur every year locally
Airport officials devise ways to prevent collisions

Aircraft bird strikes have been found to occur more than 10 times a year in Jeju.

The Korea Airports Corporation said 52 bird strikes were recorded at Jeju International Airport from 2015 to 2018, counting 13 strikes per year in average.

Three incidents have already been reported in the island this year.

KAC announced that it will expand its use of various control equipment such as animal figures and alarm devices with explosive sounds to reduce local aircraft bird strikes.

공항에서 비행기와 새가 충돌하는
이른바 버드스트라이크 사고가 매년 10건 이상 발생하고 있습니다.

한국공항공사에 따르면
지난 2015년부터 지난해까지
제주공항에서 발생한
조류 충돌사고는 52건으로
연 평균 13건으로 집계됐습니다.

올해도 3건이 발생했습니다.

공항공사는
충돌사고를 줄이기 위해
폭음 경보기와 동물 모형 등
다양한 퇴치 장비를 확충하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
