2. Jeju and Gangjeong Port to charge higher fees
Authorities address prolonged annual deficit of two terminals

The provincial government announced plans to increase utility fees at the Jeju Ferry Passenger Terminal and the Gangjeong Cruise Passenger Terminal in Seogwipo.

Higher fees will be imposed to solve the annual deficit problem of the ports.

The exact amount will be announced in August after officials consult with field experts.

Jeju Port has been operating at a loss since March 2017 when Chinese cruise ships stopped sailing here due to conflict surrounding the deployment of a radar system on the peninsula. Its losses were at 1.3 billion won in 2018 and 1 billion in 2017.

제주항과 강정항 크루즈터미널 이용료를 인상하는 방안을
추진하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

인상 폭은 업계와 전문가 의견을 거쳐 오는 8월 중 고시할 계획입니다.

제주항 국제여객터미널은 중국발 크루즈가 끊기면서
작년과 재작년 각각 13억원과 10억원의 적자를 기록했습니다.
