Downloading attached file infects computers with ransomware

Local police and a data restoration firm warned internet users of spam emails spreading ransomware.

The emails are currently sent randomly disguised as resumes or content violating copyrights.

Officials warned the public against reading and downloading attached files of the emails sent from suspicious senders.

Downloading attached files will infect computers with ransomware, which will expose personal information and important data to hackers. Then they will blackmail people for monetary compensation in return for restoring important data.
