1. Province halts wild deer control measures for 1 year
Population fell by 70% over 10 years

The provincial government will ban capturing local roe deer for a year from this July.

These animals were subject to pest control measures for the past 6 years. However, deer population fell 2,300 short from its adequate levels last year, counting 3,800 in total. This is a 70 percent drop from 12,800 deer in 2009.

A total of 7,000 roe deer have been captured since the species became recognized as pests from July 1st, 2013.

노루 유해동물 지정 6년만에 해제…포획 금지

노루가 6년 만에 유해야생동물에서 해제 됩니다.

제주도는
지난해 노루 개체수가 3천 8백마리로
적정 개체수보다 2천 3백여 마리 감소했다며
오는 7월부터 1년 동안
유해야생동물 지정에서 해제한다고 밝혔습니다.

이에따라 이 기간에 노루 포획이 전면 금지됩니다.

노루는 지난 2013년 유해동물로 지정됐고
지난해까지
7천여 마리가 포획됐습니다.
