1. ‘Jeju should prioritize islanders’ opinions at all times’: PCBND
Environmental preservation should come before development

Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development Director Song Jae-ho argued that the provincial government should put islanders’ opinions before that of experts.

Song made a speech at a lecture hosted by the Catholic Diocese of Cheju on discussions to find ways for a sustainable Jeju. The event was held at the Kim Kee Ryang Catholic Church on May 21st.

Song stressed that the province should not proceed with any development projects without the consent of local residents. He added that the balanced development committee selected preservational strategies for the island.

지역주민이 반대하면 진행될 수 없다고 강조했습니다.
