4. 2 to 3 Typhoons to reach Jeju this summer
More rain, higher or similar temperatures in July

The Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration has forecasted 2 to 3 typhoons to reach the island this summer.

According to the three-month summer weather forecast released by the local meteorological administration, 11 to 13 typhoons will occur in the North Pacific region this summer. Two to three of them are expected to hit the Korean Peninsula. The forecast predicted strong typhoons this summer due to the rise in water temperature in the eastern shores of the Philippines, where typhoons are usually generated.

The local meteorological administration also forecasted that Jeju will have more rain with higher or similar temperatures than usual in July.

올 여름 제주에는 태풍 2~3개 정도가
직·간접적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 전망됐습니다.

제주지방기상청이 발표한 3개월 여름철 기상 전망에 따르면
올 여름에는 북태평양 해역에서
평년과 비슷한 수준인
11개에서 13개 정도의 태풍이 발생하겠고
이 가운데 2~3개 정도가
우리나라에 영향을 줄 것으로 예측됐습니다.

다만 기상청은
태풍이 주로 생성되는
필리핀 동쪽 해상의 수온이 점차 높아지고 있어
강한 태풍이
발생할 가능성이 높다고 덧붙였습니다.

또 올 여름철 제주는
7월에 평년보다 많은 비가 내리겠고
기온은 조금 높거나 비슷할 것으로 전망했습니다.
