5. Province to test Baekrokdam hiking reservation system this fall
1,146 hikers allowed on two trails leading to summit

The province will implement a pilot testing of a hiking reservation system for hikers who want to climb to Baekrokdam, the summit of Hallasan Mountain for three months starting October.

Officials plan to fully implement the system from next year.

The reservation system is designed to protect the ecosystem and environment of Hallasan Mountain from damage caused by the recent surge in the number of hikers.

Hikers who plan to climb to Baekrokdam using the Seongpanak or Gwaneumsa trails must make reservations.

The daily limit is set at 720 and 426 hikers for the Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa Trail, respectively. Reservations will be opened one month in advance on first come first served basis.

올 가을부터 한라산 백록담 정상에 오르려면
사전 예약을 해야 하는 탐방예약제가 시범적으로 시행됩니다.

제주도는 오는 10월부터 3개월 동안
탐방예약제를 시범적으로 운영한 후
내년부터 본격 시행하기로 했습니다.

탐방예약제는
등산객 수 증가로 인한
한라산 환경 훼손을 막기 위한 것으로

사전 예약 대상은
성판악이나 관음사 코스를 이용해
백록담 정상까지 오르는 등산객입니다.

백록담 정상까지 갈 수 있는 하루 인원은
성판악 코스 720명,
관음사 코스 426명이며
한달 전부터 선착순으로 예약해야 합니다.
