4. Local forest and farmland declines sharply
Roads and housing sites show continuous growth

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport observed huge changes in local land usage, with an increase in artificial areas and a significant loss of local green belt.

According to the ministry’s report on last year December’s Standard Statistical Yearbook, lands used for agricultural purposes were 357 square kilometers, marking a decrease of 1.3 and 11.4 square kilometers from 2018 and 2009, respectively.

The area of forest land also showed a huge loss of 2.1 and 24.5 square kilometers from 2018 and 2009, respectively.

However, artificial areas such as housing sites and roads increased by 2.5 and 0.4 square kilometers, respectively, over the past year.

Officials analyzed that the rising demand of land development due to local population increase caused the geographic statistical changes.

국토교통부가 발표한 지난해 12월 기준 지적통계연보에 따르면
지목상 '전'이 357 제곱킬로미터로 전년도보다 1.3 제곱킬로미터 줄었고
특히 10년 전에 비해서는 11.4 제곱킬로미터 감소했습니다.

지목상 '임야'도 1년 전보다 2.1 제곱킬로미터,
10년 전보다는 24.5 제곱킬로미터 줄어v농경지와 녹지가 크게 감소했습니다.

반면 대지와 도로는
각각 1년 사이 2.5 제곱킬로미터, 0.4 제곱킬로미터 늘면서
인구와 개발수요 증가가
제주의 지적 통계도 바꿔놓은 것으로 분석됐습니다.
