1. Province takes aim at heat-related illness
480 heat-storm shelters, 70 shade sheets to be installed

The provincial government will carry out preventive measures against the damages caused by heat waves through September.

480 heat-storm shelters will be operated and shade sheets will be installed at over 70 crosswalks.

Officials will strengthen care services for elderly and disabled living alone and supply cooling equipment.

Last year, the heat wave lasted for more than a month, causing 96 heat stroke patients and deaths of 6,700 livestock and 378,000 fish.

제주도가
9월까지 폭염 피해 예방 대책을 추진합니다.

이를 위해 무더위 쉼터 480여 곳을 운영하고
도내 횡단보도 70여 곳에 그늘막을 설치합니다.

아울러
홀자 사는 어르신과 장애인들에 대한 관리를 강화하고
냉방용품도 지원할 예정입니다.

한편 지난해 36일 동안 이어진 폭염으로
온열질환자 96명이 발생했고
가축 6천 7백여 마리와
어류 37만 8천마리가 폐사했습니다.
