1. Ordinance amendment to restrict local casinos expansion
Province to ask MOLEG for authoritative interpretation

The province is proceeding with the ordinance amendment to restrict the relocation and expansion of the local casinos.

Councilor (이상봉) Lee Sang-bong of the Democratic Party pushed forward with a revision bill to regulate changes of casino licenses on January 28 this year.

The amendment bill stipulates that a casino business can be relocated only when places of business are under heavy repairs, rebuilt or demolished.

Councilor Lee stressed the need for tighter restrictions on casino expansions as local casino businesses have been using legal loop holes to expand by relocating after license acquisition.

The provincial government will ask the Ministry of Government Legislation for an authoritative interpretation of the revision bill to avoid violating higher law.

손쉽게 카지노 대형화가 이뤄지고 있다며
조례 개정으로 이전을 제한할 필요가 있다고 밝혔습니다.

제주도는
해당 조례 개정안이 상위법에 저촉될 소지가 있다며
법제처에 유권해석을 요청할 계획입니다.
