2. UNESCO to visit Jeju to establish a research and training center
Facility to conduct preservation studies and personnel training

UNESCO officials will visit Korea from June 13th to 14th to conduct a feasibility study for the establishment of a “Global Research and Training Center for Internationally Designated Areas” in Jeju.

Following the meeting with Governor Won Hee-ryong on the 13th, UNESCO authorities will visit possible sites for the center including the Jeju Stone Park and (선흘곶)Seonheulgot Dongbaek-Dongsan. They will have a meeting with the Ministry of Environment on the 14th.

Final decisions will be made at the UNESCO General Assembly in November.

유네스코 국제보호지역을 연구하고
전담 인력을 양성하는 기관이 제주에 설립 될지 주목됩니다.

유네스코는
오는 13일과 14일 이틀동안 제주와 서울을 찾아
유네스코 글로벌 국제보호지역 연구 훈련센터 유치 설립을 위한
타당성 조사를 진행합니다.

13일에는
도지사 면담에 이어
센터 예정지인 돌문화공원와 동백동산,
람사르습지 등을 방문해 관리 역량을 점검하게 되고

14일에는 환경부와 회의를 갖게 됩니다.

최종 유치 여부는
11월 열리는 유네스코 총회에서 결정될 예정입니다.
