Jeju wrongfully accused for compressed waste in Pyeongtaek Port

Gyeonggi-do Province Governor Lee Jae-myung apologized to the islanders and Governor Won Hee-ryong for wrongfully accusing Jeju as the origin of compressed waste on Tuesday.

Governor Lee posted a message on Facebook saying that since the waste was collected and processed promptly by Gyeonggi-do provincial officials, the origin of the waste at Pyeongtaek Port could not be identified.

Lee had previously accused Jeju of being the source of the waste last March, and demanded compensation. However, a field investigation later revealed that none of the waste at Pyeongtaek Port was from Jeju.
