3. Provincial council passes resolution to investigate violations in naval base construction
Human right violations and illegal practices found by police

The provincial council's standing committee passed a resolution calling for an investigation into human rights violations and transgressions that during the naval base construction at Gangjeong village.

This followed after Gangjeong residents held a press conference at the provincial council on June 7th after the police discovered human rights violations in the construction project.

The provincial council’s Autonomy Administration Committee held a meeting on the 13th. It passed the resolution proposed by councilor Kim Gyeong-mi of the Democratic party of Korea.

The resolution calls for an investigation by the Prime Minister's Office into human rights and administrative violations in project, as well as an official apology from Seoul.

진상조사를 요구하는 결의안이 도의회 상임위원회를 통과했습니다.

제주도의회 행정자치위원회는 13일 회의를 열고
더불어민주당 김경미 의원이 대표 발의한
제주해군기지 건설 과정에 대한
진상규명 촉구 결의안을 원안 가결했습니다.

결의안에는
해군기지 건설과정에서 벌어진 인권 침해와
잘못된 행정행위에 대한 국무총리실 차원의 진상조사,
그리고 정부의 공식 사과를 요구하는 내용이 담겨 있습니다.
