The 6th agri-food industry is gaining popularity in Jeju.

As more visitors come to farms for hands-on activities, local farmers’ earnings are going up.

At a banana farm in Seogwipo, a machine stirs crushed bananas.

Sugar and vinegar are added.

The mixture ferments and becomes delicious banana vinegar.

This farm offers various hands-on programs. Visitors can pick bananas and make their own vinegar or jam.

The number of visitors has been increasing.

Sales are climbing.

The owner of the banana farm says sales have doubled compared with the previous year when the farm had only fruit sales.

The Jeju Agricultural Research & Extension Services offers education programs on the new type of industry to local farmers.

It provides consulting and capacity building programs to aid farmers in developing their own products from their crops, marketing and quality control.
