1. Islanders’ opinions on 2nd airport ‘must reach’ land ministry
Provincial council chairman may run for general elections

Provincial council Chairman Kim Tae-seok said he will make a proposal to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to conduct a public opinion poll on the islander’s opinion regarding the island’s second airport.

At a press conference marking the first anniversary of the opening of the 11th Provincial Council on Wednesday, Chairman Kim stressed the need to inform the land ministry, the decision-making body of the new airport, of the opinions of islanders collected from surveys or opinion polls.

He added the revision bill of conservation zones management, which is related to the development project of the second airport, will be introduced before the airport’s basic plan is announced in October.

Kim also showed intent to run as a candidate for next year’s general elections.

국토부에 알릴 필요가 있다고 강조했습니다.

제2공항과 연관되면서 논란이 된 보전지역 관리조례 개정안은
제2공항 기본계획이 고시되는 10월 전에 상정하겠다고 말했습니다.

내년 총선 출마 여부에 대해 김 의장은
경선 등 참여 기회가 온다면 피하지 않겠다며
출마 의사를 내비쳤습니다.
