2. Province purchases local unsold houses
Applications for residency to begin from September

Amidst the number of unsold houses in Jeju peaking over 1,000 units, the provincial government is buying some of the unsold houses for the first time to lease them to the public.

The province recently purchased 80 unsold houses smaller than 85 square meters in Ora 2-dong. It will recruit residents from September.

The local government aims to lease the houses to low-income earners, young adults, newlyweds and etc. The conditions of moving in and the length of residency are similar to that of "Happy House" public housing units provided by the Jeju Province Development Corporation.

The province is under budgetary negotiations with the land ministry to buy additional unsold houses in the second half of this year.

Meanwhile, the number of local unsold houses has decreased slightly to 1,126 units since it peaked at 1,339 in March last year.

'미분양 주택' 첫 매입…9월 분양

오라2동에 있는 전용면적 85제곱미터 이하인
미분양 주택 80호를 매입했으며
9월부터 입주자 모집을 시작합니다.

모집 대상은 저소득층과 청년, 신혼부부 등으로
입주 조건이나
거주 기간은 기존 행복주택와 유사합니다.

제주도는 올 하반기에도 추가로 미분양 주택을 매입하기 위해
국토부와 국비를 절충하고 있습니다.

한편 제주지역 미분양 주택은
지난해 3월 1천 339호로 정점을 찍은 뒤 조금씩 줄어
지금은 1천 126호로 집계되고 있습니다.
