￦103.1B to be earmarked for bus subsidies in 2022

Measures to reduce overall bus operation costs are in need as the government’s subsidy for local semi-public bus system is expected to surpass 100 billion won in three years after the introduction of the system and reach 103 billion won by 2022.

According to the province, the local government subsidized 96.5 billion won of semi-public bus operation costs last year when the system was in full swing. A total of 97.3 billion won will be subsidized this year.

The amount of subsidy is expected to rise to 99.2 billion won next year, 101.1 billion won in 2021 and 103.1 billion won in 2022.

The controversy over the feasibility of providing large sums of subsidy to local bus operations is expected to continue, as bus companies are showing lack of effort to make adjustments to bus transport costs or voluntarily improve operations management.

그리고 2022년에는
1천31억원에 이르는 등
지원액은 계속 늘어날 것으로 예상됐습니다.

더욱이 표준 운송 원가에 대한 조정은 물론
버스 업계의 자발적인 경영개선 노력도 찾아볼 수 없어
막대한 재정 지원에 따른
타당성 논란은 계속될 것으로 보입니다.
