2. Governor Won expects 2nd airport to positively affect local economy
He said airport construction project proceeds as usual

Governor Won Hee-ryong expressed his intention to push for the construction project of the island’s second airport, saying that the new airport will change the economic structure of Jeju.

During a press conference marking the 1st anniversary of Governor Won’s inauguration on Thursday, he emphasized that the construction of the second airport proceeds as planned unless significant defects are found. The governor pointed out that he has a responsibility to create a new airport that will help improve the future of the island's residents.

He also said that the provincial government plans to consult with Seoul to ensure that its priorities, including a right to participate in operations of the new airport, are fully reflected and will hold discussion sessions with residents to collect their opinions.

Won added that local officials know the difficulties islanders and related industries are facing due to the rental car quota system and the and garage proof system. He said they would work to minimize the burden by taking measures step by step.

업계의 어려움과 도민 불편을 잘 알고 있다며
부담을 최소화는 데에 중점을 두고
단계적으로 추진하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
