Public outcry, criticism of their law firm cited

All five lawyers who defended Koh Yoo-jeong, the suspect in the murder of her ex-husband, have submitted their official letters of resignation.

According Keumseong Law Corporation, five attorneys tendered their resignations to the Jeju District Court on Friday afternoon.

The five lawyers resigned because they have been publicly criticized and want to prevent further damage on the reputation of co-workers.

If Koh fails to appoint a new attorney, a court-appointed lawyer will defend her in court.

고유정의 변호인 5명은
5일 오후 제주지방법원에 사임계를 제출했습니다.

이들은
변호인단 구성이 언론을 통해 알려지면서 비난을 받고 있고
같은 회사 소속이라는 이유로
동료 변호사들까지 피해를 보고 있다며
사임계를 제출한 것으로 알려지고 있습니다.

이에 따라
고유정이 새 변호인을 선임하지 못하면
법원에서 선정한 국선 변호인이 변호를 맡게 됩니다.
