5. KTU seeks public survey on IB awareness
Islanders 'need to be properly informed' before making a decision

A public opinion poll revealed that the majority of islanders support the introduction of the International Baccalaureate Program into the island’s education system. However, Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union (KTU) stated that a thorough investigation on how much islanders understand the program is necessary.

The Jeju Branch of KTU stressed that the recent survey results of islanders supporting the IB program is ‘unreliable’ as the public opinion poll took place without the Provincial Office of Education properly informing local residents on the details of the IB program.

The union said that the survey did not ask students and teachers, who are the persons directly involved in the implementation of IB. It added that as only 23% of survey respondents were school parents, more views from related parties on IB need to be collected.

더욱이 IB 도입에 따라
직접 배우고 가르치게 될 학생과 교사에 대한 조사가 빠졌고
설문조사자 가운데 학부모는 23%에 그쳐
의견 수렴이
부족했다고 덧붙였습니다.
