5. Electric energy demand to surpass 1M kW
The demand increases by 3.6% during April, May

The local electric energy demand is forecasted to hit a new record this summer.

The Jeju branch of the Korea Power Exchange said even though the energy demand was stable during April and May, it increased by 3.6% during the period compared to the same period last year. It added if this trend continues, the demand is expected to be over 1 million kilowatts this summer.

Last summer, local electric energy demand peaked at 940,000 kilowatts with hitting a new record three times.

전력거래소 제주지사는
전력수요가 비교적 안정적인 지난 4, 5월만 하더라도
전년에 비해 3.6% 증가했다며
이같은 추세를 감안하면
올 여름 최대 100만 kw를 넘어설 것으로 예상했습니다.

지난해는 여름철에 세 차례나 기록을 경신하며
94만 kw의 전력 사용량을 기록했습니다.
