4. Need for translations of family relation certificates on the rise
Applications more than doubled over 10 years

The number of applicants of family relation certificate English translation service have been increasing as more people study abroad, marry a foreigner and travel overseas.

According to the Jeju Municipal Office, the number of applications for the English translation service more than doubled from 149 in 2008 to 373 in 2018.

265 people have applied for it this year through last month. The service has been receiving positive responses.

The English translation service is provided free of charge for five types of certificates, including marriage and family relation certificates.

가족관계증명서 영문번역 서비스 신청도 증가하고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면
지난 2008년 영문번역 신청건수는 149건에서
매년 증가해 지난해 373건에 달했습니다.

올들어서도 지난달까지 265건에 이르는 등
꾸준한 호응을 얻고 있습니다.

영문번역서비스가 가능한 증명서는
가족관계증명서와 혼인관계증명서 등 5종류로 수수료 없이 무료로
제공됩니다.
