Officials to announce basic plan at end of September

Groups opposing the island’s second airport project disrupted a briefing session on the strategic environmental impact assessment of the island’s second airport.

The Land Ministry planned to hold a briefing session on the first draft of the environmental impact assessment for the second airport at a sports center in Seongsan-eup on July 11th. However, opposing groups and picketers blocked the session from starting.

The Land Ministry and the province said that it was the final step before the notification of a basic plan of the project and will announce the basic plan at the end of September at the earliest.

제2공항 전략환경영향평가 초안에 대해 주민설명회를
개최할 계획이었지만
반대 측이 설명회장을 점거해 시작도 하지 못하고 무산됐습니다.

하지만 국토부와 제주도는
이번 설명회를 끝으로
제2공항 기본계획 고시를 위한 절차를 마무리했다고 보고
이르면 9월 말 기본계획을 고시하기로 했습니다
