2. Court rules defendant of nursery teacher murder case ‘not guilty’
Local prosecution office files appeal

The Jeju District Court acquitted the 50-year-old defendant, surnamed Park, of his charges of raping and murdering a nursery school teacher 10 years ago on Thursday.

The court explained the reasons for its decision that while there are circumstantial evidence that the defendant committed the crime, the evidence submitted by the prosecutor is not enough to prove his charges distinctly.

Meanwhile, prosecutors will file an appeal against the ruling.

강간살인 혐의로 구속기소 된 50살 박 모 피고인에 대해
무죄를 선고했습니다.

재판부는 피고인이 범행을 저질렀다고 의심할 만한 정황은 있지만
검사가 제출한 증거들만으로는 혐의를 입증하기에 부족하다며
무죄 판결 이유를 설명했습니다.

한편 검찰은 판결에 불복해 항소할 예정입니다.
