1. Jeju district court postpones Koh’s trial preparation to July 23
Public defender newly appointed as Koh’s attorney

The trial preparation session date of Koh Yu-jeong, a murder suspect of her ex-husband, has been postponed.

Koh is expected to face charges of murder, body dismemberment, abandonment and concealment during trial.

A public defender was newly appointed as Koh’s attorney on July 10th after her previous attorneys resigned.

The Jeju District Court accepted Koh’s new attorney’s request to postpone the date of the trial preparation session from July 15th to 10:30 a.m. on the 23rd due to lack of preparation time.

During the trial preparation session, attorneys and prosecutors sort out the main issues of the trial to progress following trials efficiently. The defendants do not have to attend the session.

Meanwhile, in order to maintain courtroom decorum, the court has decided to allot 40 courtroom admission tickets of the trial preparation session on a first-come, first-served basis from 9:30 a.m. on the 23rd at the entrance of room no. 201.

고유정 공판준비기일 23일로 변경

제주지방법원 제2형사부는
고유정 측 변호인측에서 기일변경 신청서를 제출함에 따라
공판준비기일을 15일에서
23일 오전 10시 30분으로 변경했습니다.

고유정 측은
변호인단 일괄 사임으로
지난 10일에야 국선변호인이 선임됨에 따라
준비 시간이 더 필요해
일정을 변경한 것으로 전해졌습니다.

공판준비기일은
검찰과 변호인이 쟁점사항을 정리하는 절차로
피고인이 출석할 의무는 없습니다.

한편 법원은 법정 질서 유지를 위해
23일 오전 9시 30분부터 제201호 법정 입구에서
40여 석에 한해
선착순으로 방청권을 배부하기로 했습니다.
